Meeting 6 - October 22 in Design Studio

  • REDESIGNING the solution (adding a curved bottom edge and a lip, that will be inserted into ostomy bag through the stoma hole, to the O-ring)

  • CADing the new design and 3D printing it

  • Construction of a replica ostomy bag that will be used to test the prototype 

  • Removing cotton pads from band-aids to allow them to serve as adhesives in the low-fidelity prototype

Meeting 7 - October 23 in Design Studio

  • Testing 3D printed prototype from the previous meeting

  • Remodelling the prototype to have an even steeper bottom, longer protruding edges that will sit inside the bag and an increased distance between the bottom and top of the groove to allow for bandages and skin barrier to fit comfortably in the groove (to be printed and ready for next meeting)

  • Cutting the bandages to the appropriate shape and size to fit in the groove of the device accordingly

Meeting 8 - October 25 in Design Studio

  • Working with the new prototype and investigating how it will interact with the real ostomy appliance

  • Cutting a hole in the ostomy bag skin barrier that corresponds to the groove diameter of the prototype  

  • Discussed plans going forward for finishing Written Report and Slide Deck
